My mother used to abide by this rule and make me sweat in my vest and liberty bodice until June. It could have been 100 degrees and she wouldn’t budge but my mother was a very cruel person.

Bless you Jenny. My mother was pretty much the same, I wonder if they ruled like this because in the days before readily available antibiotics and poor weather forecasting fear of illness was always there. The times I had to carry my school coat backwards and forwards the nearly three miles to school was unbelievable.
